Milpitas, Calif., September 14 2005 - Globalstar LLC, the world's most widely-used handheld satellite phone provider, began construction of a new satellite gateway in Wasilla, Alaska, to enhance satellite voice and data services, including e-mail, internet access and enterprise data solutions in Alaska and the Yukon. Globalstar expects the gateway to become fully operational in mid-2006, subject to Federal Communications Commission approval.   details

John Dark, a senior marketing manager at satellite phone provider Globalstar, said the company has sold 14,000 phones in the past week, boosting its global network by 10 percent. "Monday it was 500 phones, Tuesday 1,500, Wednesday 2,500, Thursday 5,000," Dark said in an interview to Washington post.

On February 1, 2005 CJSC «GlobalTel» launched commercial operation of the Voice mail service. The subscriber who wishes to activate the service should pay for the voice mail box activation: of the 1st class - $5, of the 2nd class - $10 and pay a monthly fee of $2.5 for the 1st class and $5.0 for the 2nd class. The service tariffication remains the same and depends on the selected tariff plan
