CJSC GlobalTel informs its dealers and subscribers that on December 9, 2003 Thermo Capital Partners announceed that the procedure of purchasing Globalstar was completed and that Thermo Capital Partners begins financing Globalstar's further activity.  details

The "Mobile Satellite Internet 123" service, which CJSC GlobalTel introduced for its subscribers, has started operating in the countries of Western Europe through the GW of Elsacom, the Italian operator. Now the service is offered in trial operation mode, later it will be offered in commercial operation mode with tariffs of the local outgoing call (0.96 euros / min). Now subscribers of CJSC GlobalTel, using services of Mobile Internet - 123, satellite mail, fax - mail and FTP, can receive these services outside GlobalTel service area, in W. European countries by dialing the same access code 123 without their password from their Globalstar UTs.

On November 30th the Autumn Programme devoted to the 3rd anniversary of CJSC GlobalTel's commercial operation, within the framework of which the prices for the majority of User Terminal models have considerably been reduced, was over. However before the New Year CJSC GlobalTel gives one more opportunity to those who had no time to use this chance and represents its Winter Programme which will be on from December 1, 2003 till January 31, 2004.

GLOBALSTAR: 3 YEARS IN THE RUSSIAN MARKET. Some years ago a mobile telephone was considered a rarity and not many could afford such luxury. Today cellular services are affordable practically to everyone. Cellular networks cover majority of cities and almost the whole European part of Russia. But there are still a lot of "white spots" in the Russian territory where not only cellular, but traditional communications are unavailable. On 22 - 25 September, 2003 CJSC GlobalTel is taking part in the 7th international Exhibition on Shipbuilding and Shipping "Neva-2003" which is held at "Lenexpo" exhibition center in St. Petersbourg (Stand No. R2183, Pavilllion No.2). The Globalstar mobile and fixed satellite communications equipment, including Telit SAT550X and Qualcomm GSP 2800М marine kits, are exhibited.

On September 23 - 26, 2003 CJSC GlobalTel is taking part in the 11th Specialised International exhibition of Telecommunications and Information Technologies "Sibsviaz-2003" in the Novosibirsk "Sibirskaya Yarmarka" exhibition center (Stand No.305a)

On 16 - 19 September, 2003 CJSC GlobalTel participated in the "Oil and Gas in the CIS Off-shore Zones" exhibition, which took place in the Mikhailovsky Manege in St. Petersburg, where the mobile and fixed equipment was demonstrated as well as complete technological solutions (monitoring, SCADA, etc.) for oil and gas complex in Russia and CIS.

CJSC GlobalTel continues developing the network of Globalstar satellite communications system service providers in neighbouring and CIS countries. On September 12, 2003 an agreement on provision of the Globalstar satellite communications services with Buta-Telekom was signed.

At present CJSC GlobalTel provides services in Kirgizia (Ay Sat Systems), Georgia (Telecommunicational Consulting Group) and in Mongolia (Monsat Co., Ltd.).

Famous yacht "Siberia" from Omsk arrived in Moscow on September 1st. The yacht had made several extremal voyages, including the Northern "round-the-world" trip under the command of captain S. CJSC GlobalTel has made one more step to meet their subscriber's interests by reducing the price of the call from the European part of Russia. Beginning from September 15, 2003 new "European" tariff plans will be introduced: European, European corporate, European-280, European for fixed UTs, European corporate for fixed UTs, European-280 for fixed UTs. This action matches the "Infocommunications in Russia - 2003" Exhibition which opens our Company's autumn exhibition marathon.

On Thursday, September 4, its participants set out from downtown Moscow. CJSC GlobalTel has completed the departmental certification of SAT550X and SAT550XF marine kits in the Russian Maritime Register and in the State Service of the Maritime Fleet. Type approval certificates of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and type approval certificates for the onboard equipment of the Ministry of Transportation for SAT 550X and SAT550XF have been obtained.

CJSC GlobalTel informs its subscribers that beginning from June 1, 2003 commercial roaming with ChinaSpacecom, Chinese operator of the Globalstar system, is open. The roaming service is available for all GSM-operating Telit and Ericsson UTs. The roaming service for Qualcomm UTs operating in IS-41 will become available later. Services indicated are free of charge during the test period till May 1, 2003. To activate services please call GlobalTel Customer Care Center at (095 or 501) 797-2727 (24 hours/day).

Globalstar L.P., the world's most popular handheld satellite phone service, and New Valley Corporation today announced an agreement under which New Valley will provide Globalstar with financing subject to the approval of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware New Valley will assume majority ownership in Globalstar and New Valley's initial investment in Globalstar is planned to be $55 million.  details
